The biggest career mistake would not be the inability to handle people who just enjoy throwing jargons without understanding the stuff behind it, but to choose to work for such teams/companies.
I strongly feel one can see signs during the interview process. If the company/team culture is to play around with terms and jargons only, it definitely shows up during the interview where one would be tested on the terminologies rather than the problem-solving abilities. I have been a victim of this too.
Basically to cover up their lack of knowledge on fundamentals, plenty of folks endlessly use fancy words. Fight or flight is the only method to counter such fellows.
